Reflection
For my project I studied gun control and the effects of firearms as wholes. I wanted to find a middle ground between the two sides of the argument. I also wanted to address that neither side is really opposite the other for instance neither side wants innocent civilians to die, they just have different ideas as to how to protect our people. I feel I achieved these goals.
For the exhibition I wanted to discuss with people and figure out where people stood around this issue. I designed my paper to make people want to talk about the information they have acquired, I also tried to appear friendly to encourage people to come to my panel. As a whole exhibition is a bit of a crapsuit with it being a roll of the dice as to what people come and then another roll to see who will come to your panel and what state of mind they are when they reach your panel. In general I do not enjoy exhibitions due many factors including, but not limited to: presenting our work to the public, professional dress, and taking time out of our non school lives. I was looking forward to having it at the college because I stereotype college students as being intellectuals, however most of them are just normal people and all they wanted on the night of exhibition was to go eat their dinner. However, despite all of this, exhibition went well. I had about seven people come to my panel and talk with me about my project. The seminar went well in my opinion, no one got visibly angry or attacked anyone which I was very happy about. Exhibition went well.

A Fiery Discussion: Gun Control in America
By Weston Lewis
With recent tragedies, gun control has become a subject of interest. Generally there are two sides to this argument, those who want more gun regulation and those who don’t. I hope to enlighten all who read this to the issues of firearms in our country.
For this next section, I ask you to do away with any preconceptions of the people who oppose your beliefs and listen to these bits of data. Just shy of two thirds of firearm mortalities are suicides. Background checks have blocked the sale over 3 million firearms. For every one person killed by a firearm two are injured by a firearm. The majority of Americans believe that people should have the right to own firearms.
When it comes to gun violence there are pretty much two types of incidents, single homicide and multiple homicide. The majority of lives taken by guns fall into the first category of single homicide, meaning that the majority of people killed by firearms are the only ones killed in that instances. The majority of single homicides are suicides. Mass or multiple homicide makes up the minority people killed by firearms.
When it comes to these topics it can be easy to be swept away by what we disagree with, but we should acknowledge where we agree. There are few instances that someone is happy about the death of another. Generally we all feel the pain that is the loss of one of our people. We pretty much all agree that killing people is bad and that we don't want people being murdered in our towns.
Where we generally disagree is the solution as to how to deal with the issue of gun violence. Some people feel that the government should legislate to prevent violence while other believe that it should be on each person to not be violent and be ready to strike down those violent people. An instance of this is in Texas: the shooter was obstructed by an armed citizen. An instance of gun control's effectiveness is Australia, after implemented harsh restrictions gun violence greatly declined.
What we need is to come to a consensus on what we should do about this issue. Guns will always be a part of our society so how can agree on a solution that both side agree upon? I believe that a solution both sides would agree with is making the background check system more effective and close loophole allowing people to purchase gun without a background check, letting us stop individuals who are unfit to have a weapon before they can acquire one. With these steps we can come closer to a country where needless death is avoided
