Lyrical Painting
Weston Lewis
The song I chose was Cursed by Xandria. The theme of the song is the story of sea monsters and so I decided to express this by painting part of a sea serpent. The way I layered paint for this projects was painting washes over one another and repeating the same color to darken parts of the painting. A challenge was that something got on the canvas and made parts of the canvas paint resistant. It evolved with starting as a sea background, that then had a coral arch, that then turned into a sea snake. The painting is trying to evoke a sense of wonder by not showing much of the serpent and by having the background shadowy as if you can’t see that much further than your hand.
